If I could tip the world sideways and spill

the rain that came here last night

to you over there

and quench the thirsting flames

I would.

But I cannot

Instead I will pray for

Peace to enfold you (all)

Safety to surround you

Grace for those enduring terrible loss

Courage for everyone

Especially for those fighting the inferno

God’s work to be done in the midst of it in all the ways

For mercy

For rain.
